DarkMain a.k.a Steve, starting Djing late 1999 with only a basic Gemini starter’s kit. Now, however, he has moved out of the world of Belt Drives, home stereos and Bedroom Djing into the vast word of Auckland Night Clubs, Dance events and Radio.
Since the return of Hardcore to the shores of New Zealand, Steve has been lapping up every minute of it, and will often be found bouncing around at any event that is tipped to include even the slightest bit of Hardcore.
His Unique style of "Anything Goes" Hardcore sees his sets filled with anything from "slow" "progressive" 160-bpm Hardcore to full on 220-bpm Terrorcore.
One of the major highlights of his career to date is playing along side one of New Zealand’s only Hardcore crews, Planet Hardcore (http://www.planethardcore.co.nz), at Planet Hardcore Request Line, and the Hardcore Till I Die CD release party, as well as making numerous appearances on the monthly Planet Hardcore Radio show on UpFm.
Yellow Brick Road (http://www.yellowbrickroad.co.nz ) has also been a major stepping stone in Steve's career, with Steve providing the majority of the hardcore sets for them for the last 3 years.
Recently Yellow Brick Road has moved hardcore out of the "side rooms" and put it on the main stage where Steve has played to crowds of 700+ screaming young ins.
The All ages scene always have a vibrant reaction whenever Steve is on the decks, weather he is playing Uk-Hardcore or Gabber.
Steve has also made appearances at Thors Hammer, an open deck event at Cube Nightclub on Thursday nights, where hardcore is an uncommon occurrence.
Despite the lack of Hardcore in New Zealand, Steve, along with a handful of others have managed to establish themselves as talented NZ Hardcore Djs. Steve has a promising career ahead of him and 2005 looks to be a big part of that.
With the recent surge of the "digital revolution" Steve has started to branch out into diffrent genre's of music including House and Electro.
